To write silk history is to write the history of a very large part
of humanity, covering most of the civilised world for thousands of
years. Silk is as basic to the growth of humanity as, say, the
discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel or the birth of world
religions. Recent research into silk history has proved that silk
had brought together the world a long time before the rise of civil
societies or modern phenomena like globalisation. Silk brought
together cultures, peoples, music, design, architecture – the list
is endless. |
